Balinese Gamelan is a Kontakt-powered instrument that captures the unique soundscape of traditional Indonesian music. As part of the Discovery Series, this instrument collection offers an authentic selection of ethnic sounds ideal for film scoring, electronic music production, and classic compositions. Developed in collaboration with experienced sound designers, it brings the rich textures of Balinese gamelan orchestras into modern music environments.
This instrument features three key sections of the Balinese gamelan ensemble: the melodic core including Jegog, Calung, and Penyacah; the Gangsa metallophones such as Ugal, Pemadé, and Kantilan; and the kettle gongs like Trompong and Reyong. Samples were meticulously recorded from a professional gamelan group, ensuring high-quality studio sounds. The collection includes 2 GB of detailed audio content, delivering a faithful representation of the ensemble's dynamic and tonal diversity.
Designed for use with both the free Kontakt Player and the full Kontakt sampler, Balinese Gamelan offers extensive sound shaping and articulation options. Users can switch between traditional gamelan tuning and a western concert tuning, or explore a creative Synth mode to modify instrument tones. Additional features include a Jammer function for generating rhythmic patterns and controls for detuned doubling effects typical of the gamelan sound, providing musicians with expressive and flexible tools to craft unique musical pieces.
