Augustus Loop is a tape-based delay effect designed to go beyond standard delay functionality by offering extensive looping capabilities. It provides an exceptionally long maximum delay time of up to one hour, allowing users to capture and manipulate lengthy audio phrases. The delay time can be adjusted dynamically during recording, making it intuitive to set loop lengths on the fly. This plugin emulates the characteristics of classic tape delays, including tape speed control for pitch modulation, reverse playback, and the ability to stop the tape, all contributing to a rich, vintage sound.
The plugin features a multimode filter and saturation within the feedback loop, adding warmth and character to the delayed signal. Four independent feedback taps enable complex stereo effects such as ping-pong delays, with separate delay times and feedback levels for each tap. Modulation options include pitch and filter low-frequency oscillators, enhancing the sonic possibilities. Loop length synchronization with the host’s tempo ensures tight timing integration, and MIDI clock output allows other applications to stay in sync with the looping process.
Augustus Loop supports smooth transitions with automatic fade-ins and fade-outs, which help maintain seamless playback during loop changes. It also offers host transport-synced punch-in and punch-out recording, making it easy to capture precise loop sections. The 'inertia free' mode disables tape-like delay time changes for effortless loop length adjustments, enabling creative effects like multiplying or dividing loop durations. Overall, Augustus Loop combines authentic tape delay textures with advanced looping tools suitable for creative sound design and live performance.
