Anna is a hybrid synthesizer designed to deliver a rich and complex sound palette through its unique architecture. It features four oscillators capable of producing intricate waveforms with internal frequency modulation, allowing separate control over carrier and modulator waveforms and frequencies. Each oscillator includes a spread function that runs three detuned oscillators internally, effectively creating up to twelve oscillators for a dense and dynamic sound.
The synthesizer includes two multi-mode filters offering 14 different modes and an internal overdrive function, with pitch tracking that lets users play the filters musically. Its modulation capabilities are extensive, with four multi-mode LFOs featuring random, waveform, and step sequencer modes, along with four modulation envelopes that support basic and multi-point shapes with user-defined slopes and looped sustain sections. A 16-slot modulation matrix integrates multiple sources, including oscillator and filter outputs, all modulated at audio rate for expressive sound design.
Anna also boasts a versatile effects section with a parametric two-band equalizer, two modulated stereo delays featuring four-band filter control and cross-feedback between delay units, and a crusher effect capable of unique sample rate reduction and bit resolution distortion, producing distinctive textures reminiscent of a broken transistor radio. The effects order can be customized, and the synthesizer efficiently manages CPU usage by automatically disabling unused sections, making it a powerful yet resource-conscious tool for music producers.
