Anacreon is a highly detailed patch-cable synthesizer designed with precision and creativity in mind. Built entirely in straight C++ without relying on frameworks, it features three bandlimited, stereo oscillators capable of generating saw and pulse waveforms with hard sync and pulse width modulation. Each oscillator supports up to 64 supervoices per voice, offering rich, layered sounds with controls for detune, spread, and phase smear to emulate analog warmth and complexity. These oscillators maintain clarity and brightness even at low frequencies, ideal for electronic and techno basslines.
The synthesizer includes four 4-pole multimode filters with simultaneous low-pass, band-pass, and high-pass options, each offering 12dB and 24dB per octave slopes. A built-in soft saturator with adjustable drive adds character and warmth, while the filter design ensures stability even in complex patching scenarios. Modulation options are robust, featuring two free-running or tempo-synced LFOs with triangle, sine, and pulse waveforms, plus envelopes with true exponential response and flexible retriggering modes. The modulation source bank provides velocity, key tracking, pitch bend, and mod wheel controls, all designed for expressive performance.
Anacreon’s interface supports complex sound design through stereo attenuverters for advanced patching and a stereo limiter/clipping saturator to manage output dynamics. Each voice processes modulation and key tracking with independent glide, allowing smooth transitions and precise control over pitch and expression. The synth’s unique design balances technical sophistication with musical usability, making it a creative tool for producers seeking detailed sound sculpting. A demo version is available, though it is limited by audio dropouts and is not suitable for full song production.
