Ample China Traditional Percussion (ACTP) offers an extensive collection of Chinese ethnic percussion instruments, spanning bass to treble ranges and including membrane, wood, and brass types. The library features 19 instrument slots with a total of 49 percussion instruments, such as drum ensembles, solo drums, gongs, cymbals, opera percussion, and vocals. Each instrument is meticulously sampled with multiple articulations, velocity layers, and sample cycles to capture authentic performance nuances, providing rich tonal depth across a broad sound spectrum.
The sampling process for ACTP is thorough, utilizing 15 GB of high-quality samples recorded with multiple microphones to deliver detailed spatial realism. Drum ensembles and solo drums include up to 13 articulations like rimshots, rolls, and expressive strikes, while other instruments offer diverse playing techniques. The dual-layer mixer design allows users to control individual instrument tracks alongside multiple microphone channels, ensuring precise mixing tailored to the unique characteristics of each percussion element. This system maintains tonal consistency by sharing overhead microphones across instruments.
ACTP also incorporates advanced features to enhance playability and expression. Its built-in percussion riffing tool enables quick articulation marking and smooth MIDI integration, allowing effortless switching between similar instruments without reprogramming. The introduction of legato technology enables realistic transitions for instruments like gongs and singing bowls, simulating continuous mallet rubbing effects. Additionally, each percussion instrument includes an independent ADSR modulation system for flexible control over pitch, velocity curves, and other parameters, empowering users to shape dynamic and expressive performances.
