Ample China Erhu (ACEH) offers an authentic Erhu experience sampled from three instruments tuned in D, C, and low G, featuring over 7.6 GB of detailed samples. These samples cover a wide range of articulations including head, body, and legato groups, along with special effects and improvised licks that bring expressive depth to performances. The instrument captures the natural tonal variation of bowed strings, from soft and dark to bright and aggressive, with velocity-sensitive dynamics that influence both tone color and note duration.
ACEH incorporates advanced playing techniques such as portamentos with customizable pitch and timing, supported by Virtual Portamento technology for smooth slide effects. It includes 30 articulations across bowed, fingered, and special effects categories, enabling expressive playing styles like sustain, staccato, tremolo, pizzicato, trills, and various slides. The intelligent legato system ensures seamless transitions between notes with multiple velocity layers, while three fingering modes replicate realistic Erhu finger placements. The instrument also supports polyphonic chords and features a creative Mirroring function for dynamic performance possibilities.
Recorded using five microphone positions with adjustable volumes and channel equalization, ACEH provides flexible sound shaping through four mic modes: AB, Wide AB, MS, and Bright MS. The built-in effects include a high-order EQ, a versatile compressor with multiple detection modes, a 6-tap echo with detailed parameter control, and an IR reverb offering four room types with 3D spectrum visualization. These tools allow users to craft rich, immersive Erhu sounds suitable for a variety of musical contexts.
