38911 Bytes is a one oscillator synthesizer inspired by the classic Commodore 64 sound but expanded with modern capabilities. It features a single oscillator offering four waveforms: saw, triangle, pulse, and pitched noise, alongside ring modulation with additional waveforms. Users can adjust pulse width and octave ranges extensively, allowing for a wide array of tonal possibilities that go beyond traditional retro sounds.
This synth also includes a dedicated ring modulation oscillator with multiple waveform options and a flexible octave and note range. Three LFOs provide 19 waveform choices and multiple BPM rate settings, including a manual free rate, with adjustable depth for pitch, pulse width, and filter cutoff modulation. The LFOs can be synchronized to key presses, sequencer playback, or run freely, offering dynamic modulation control tailored to various production styles.
In addition, 38911 Bytes offers four 16-step sequencers covering waveform selection, octave, pitch, and filter cutoff, each with multiple BPM rate options and a free mode to unify their timing. Envelope controls for pitch, pulse width, cutoff, and volume add expressive shaping capabilities. Features like a bitcrusher effect, mono/poly modes, and retrigger functionality provide further sound design options, making this synthesizer a powerful tool for creating both vintage-inspired and innovative electronic sounds.
