Datsik, the alias of Canadian producer Troy Beetles, emerged from Kelowna, British Columbia, after a pivotal encounter with Excision in 2008. Known for his "robostep" sound, he gained prominence with his debut album, Vitamin D, released on Dim Mak Records in 2012. Beetles also founded Firepower Records, showcasing emerging electronic talent.
